Dr. Tyson Young graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Sciences from Florida Gulf Coast University. Following his undergraduate degree, he attended Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, where he graduated with honors, earning his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. Prior to opening Revolution Physical Therapy, Dr. Young worked as a Physical Therapist and a Clinical Director for an outpatient physical therapy clinic for 3 years. Here he gained experienced treating a wide variety of conditions including general orthopedics, post-surgical, chronic pain, regenerative medicine such as PRP and stem cell, as well as sports performance with youth, recreational, collegiate, and professional athletes.
As a former division I Men’s Baseball player, Dr. Young has always had a passion for human performance and movement. It is through his own injuries during his collegiate career where he developed his passion for Physical Therapy and helping others. Dr. Young obtained his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification in 2016, in order to gain further knowledge and understanding in the rehabilitation process for higher-level athletes. Dr. Young has had the opportunity to work with various athletes across the sports spectrum including marathon runners, triathletes, baseball, football, basketball, hockey, tennis, soccer, dance, Cross Fit, and professional body builders. Dr. Young understands that each sport has specific demands and requirements which need to be tailored towards each individual athlete in order to maximize sport performance.
Dr. Young prides himself on being a movement specialist and has obtained certifications through the Functional Movement System including the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and the Functional Movement Screen (FMS). He utilizes the knowledge gained from these certifications in order to assess the patient as a whole, in order to identify and direct treatment towards movement pattern dysfunctions. He is also in the process of obtaining his certification in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), which utilizes a movement-based approach to help guide diagnosis, treatment, and promote patient independence.
